Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why are there different prices on your sea glass pieces?

A: Most of the pendant pieces we sell are one of a kind and handcrafted right here in our design studio at Scarborough Seashells. The sea glass has been handpicked from beaches around the world and pricing is based on the size of the glass and more importantly, color rarity. Following the widely accept rarity scale found in Richard LaMotte's book Pure Sea Glass, the most common colors are white (clear frosted), amber (brown) and Kelly Green. Next come coke bottle green, dark or citrus colored greens and pale ambers. Nearing the top of the rarity scale are all blues, pinks, purples and finally the most rare of all are reds, oranges, turquoise, teal and black. You can read more about sea glass colors and sea glass beach combing tips in our Squidoo lens, Sea Glass & Seashell Jewelry by Scarborough Seashells.

Q: Why didn't I receive the exact item that I see in the photos on your website?

A: In order to efficiently maintain our inventory and continue to add new items to bring to our customers, we sometimes utilize "stock photos". We always use images that we feel best represent the items we have in stock. Please keep in mind that due to the unique nature of seashells and sealife, no two will ever be identical. When you purchase a one of a kind item, such as our sea glass jewelry pieces, you will receive the exact item from the photos on the website. If you ever have a question concerning what you will receive, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Q: I need more of an item than what you have available on your website. Can you make that happen for me?

A: Absolutely! While we try to maintain a good level of inventory, we may, from time to time, find ourselves running low or out of stock on some items. We are always happy to place custom orders with our vendors to get you the supplies you need. Just send us an email and let us know! Turn around time on special order items is approximately 7 business days from the time your order is placed.

Q: I am looking for a very specific item that I don't see listed in your catalog. Can you get it for me?

A: We will do our best! We have an extensive variety of seashells and sea life available to us and may likely be able to special order what you need. Again, simply email us and we'll see what we can do to help!
